Preparing for a destination wedding is such an exciting time! There’s a lot going on in your mind leading up to your travel dates. And if you’re feeling a little unsure of what you really need to bring – don’t worry. Its completely normal!
This list of destination wedding travel essentials is a must have for any aspiring bride. All tried-and-true, these items are things past brides have said they couldnt imagine traveling without!
Document holder or organizer
Its important to have all your documents in the same place, and will make it easier to board the ship. This includes your passport, boarding documents (if they are paper-issued), transfer information for the airport, hotel reservations, wedding coordinator contact info, etc. We also recommend having your vows and any other planning tools with your other documents. You want everything easily accessible and in one easy-to-find spot. We also recommend having an extra form of ID- just in case!
Travel Garment Bag
Many brides invest in a travel garment bag to protect their wedding dress during travel. Garment bags often allow you to pack more than just your dress in it! You can pack numerous outfits (including your fiance's outfits) plus shoes!
We had purchased a travel garment bag that could convert to a carry on back for airline travel. It worked great. We NEVER recommend that check your wedding dress!
Crease Release Spray
I always bring a travel-size bottle of anti-wrinkle spray with me on trips. I've used it to get well-set wrinkles out, and the scent gives an already-worn piece a burst of freshness.
First aid kit
a first aid kit is a great addition to your travel bag. Include necessities like ibprofen, aloe, sunscreen, daily medications, an electrolyte mix to stay hydrated before the big day, and more! A small sewing kit is another great idea for precautionary measures.
Wedding Magnets
Decorating your stateroom door is part of the fun of a Disney cruise, and its a great way to show that you have something special to celebrate! If you get really into it, you can even make matching wedding party magnets for everyone in your crew!
A favorite perfume
Something that completely slipped my mind upon packing was my favorite perfume. Luckily, my mother in law had some packed.
While not necessary, it certainly adds a nice touch. I wear that perfume on our anniversary and on special dates and it brings up some nostalgia.
Wedge flip flops
No, really! We originally planned on getting married on Castaway and I wanted some height for pictures. I planned on switching from the wedge flip flops to a 3 inch heel for the reception, but the change of plans resulted in me wearing the heels for the ceremony and pictures and switching to the flip flops for the rest of the day. They were much more comfortable, gave me the height I needed, and it wasnt even noticable to bystanders! I ended up wearing the same shoes for our park shoot and I was so glad I did!
Wedding ears
The accessories for Disney Brides go on and on, but the classic Ears are a must have accessory! We wore our ears throughout the trip and received so many compliments and pixie dust. It was also a fun way to start a convo with other guests, CM, and characters!
